Oxygen enhancement ratios of cancer cells after exposure to intensity modulated x-ray fields: DNA damage and cell survival

چکیده

Abstract Hypoxic cancer cells within solid tumours show radio-resistance, leading to malignant progression in fractionated radiotherapy. When prescribing dose under heterogeneous oxygen pressure with intensity-modulated radiation fields, intercellular signalling could have an impact on radiosensitivity between in-field and out-of-field (OF) cells. However, the of hypoxia radio-sensitivity modulated intensity remains be fully clarified. Here, we investigate OF radio-sensitivities using two types cells, DU145 H1299. Using a nBIONIX hypoxic culture kit shielding technique irradiate 50% cell flask, enhancement ratios for double-strand breaks (DSB) death endpoints were determined. These vitro measurements indicate that impacts although survival dose-dependent smaller compared those uniformly irradiated decreased shown as consistent tendency both DSB endpoints, suggesting radiation-induced communication is importance advanced radiotherapy dose-distributions such

Impact of fractionation on out-of-field survival and DNA damage responses following exposure to intensity modulated radiation fields.

To limit toxicity to normal tissues adjacent to the target tumour volume, radiotherapy is delivered using fractionated regimes whereby the total prescribed dose is given as a series of sequential smaller doses separated by specific time intervals. The impact of fractionation on out-of-field survival and DNA damage responses was determined in AGO-1522 primary human fibroblasts and MCF-7 breast t...

DNA Damage Responses following Exposure to Modulated Radiation Fields

During the delivery of advanced radiotherapy treatment techniques modulated beams are utilised to increase dose conformity across the target volume. Recent investigations have highlighted differential cellular responses to modulated radiation fields particularly in areas outside the primary treatment field that cannot be accounted for by scattered dose alone. In the present study, we determined...

Evaluating Gamma-H2AX Expression as a Biomarker of DNA Damage after X-ray in Angiography Patients

Objective: Coronary heart disease (CHD) is one of the most common diseases. Coronary angiography (CAG) is an important apparatus used to diagnose and treat this disease. Since angiography is performed through exposure to ionizing radiation, it can cause harmful effects induced by double-stranded breaks in DNA which is potentially life-threatening damage. The aim of the present study is to inves...

Induction of cancer stem-like cells in A549 cells after exposure to carbon ions and X-rays

Background: Cancer stem-like cells (CSCs) play a crucial role in the initiation, progression, and recurrence of cancer. Evidence indicates that the high linear energy transfer (LET) carbon ion beam is more effective against CSCs than the conventional X-ray beam. Carbon ion radiotherapy is considered as a promising cancer strategy, however, information about whether, or not, new CSCs are induced...

Enhancement of x-ray damage in HeLa cells by exposure to lucanthone (Miracil D) following radiation.

SUMMARY The colony-forming ability of HeLa cells that survived an initial dose of X-irradiation proved abnormally sensitive to lucanthone. Surviving cells gradually regained normal resist ance to lucanthone treatment, which implied that lucanthone was acting to inhibit a postradiation repair process. Enhance ment of cell killing by lucanthone was comparable in degree to that induced by actinomy...
